1. Who is Euro-American Connections & Homecare?

Euro-American has been Connecticut’s live-in and hourly homecare leader since 1989. We were Connecticut’s first and original provider of primarily Eastern-European caregivers for seniors and people with disabilities who need assistance with activities of daily living. Today we are the most respected live-in and hourly homecare provider in Connecticut.

2. What types of services does Euro-American provide?

Euro-American provides non-medical in-home care services to adults, seniors, and disabled people who need help in order to stay safe in their own homes and in care facilities. Our services include providing live-in caregivers, companions, homemakers, and personal care attendants, respite care services, eldercare consulting with a geriatric expert, and care for specific medical conditions such as Cancer, Alzheimer’s, and COPD.

3. What is the difference between non-medical home care and home healthcare?

Home care refers to any type of care (medical or non-medical) that is provided to the client in his or her own home (or a care facility). While the term “home care” is often used to describe both medical and non-medical care, usually “home care” refers to non-medical care such as companionship or homemaking services and personal care services, while “home healthcare” refers to the provision of skilled nursing care, such as changing bandages, handling IVs, and other skilled care such as speech, physical, or occupational therapy.

4. Are services available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week? Do you require a minimum number of hours?

Our services are available for as little as a few a visit – up to 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. If you only need someone to help Mom get washed and dressed in the morning, make sure she takes her meds and is ready for the day, we can do that! Our minimum number of home care hours is usually 3, which can be scheduled by the day, week, or month. There is no commitment to a minimum term or duration of care.

We provide live-in care throughout Connecticut. We are a leader in hourly in-home care services in Hartford County, Middlesex County, and New Haven County.

6. Will I have the same caregiver every day?

Many of our caregivers prefer to work continuously for an extended period (and then take off some time for respite). Some clients require continuous day and night care, in those instances, a client will have more than one caregiver to cover all hours.

7. Do you provide homecare services for seniors in nursing homes or assisted living facilities?

Yes. Euro-American Connections & Homecare’s caregivers provide services to residents at assisted living communities and nursing homes who want additional attention or personalized care beyond what’s offered in the facility.

8. Can your caregivers assist clients with Alzheimer’s, Dementia, and other special medical conditions?

Yes. Persons with Dementia and Alzheimer’s symptoms—whether it’s early memory loss or more advanced—can still enjoy some independence with the proper support. According to the Alzheimer’s Association, “Approximately 70 percent of people with dementia or cognitive impairment are living at home.” In fact, unless clients are in the late stages of the disease, home care is preferred. We can also provide specialized care for Arthritis, Cancer, Congestive Heart Failure, COPD, Diabetes, Hospice, Post-Surgical Care, Parkinson’s Disease, Stroke, and many more conditions.

9. Can you provide additional consulting and advocacy on other issues affecting seniors and people with disabilities?

Our Director of Geriatric Services (a geriatric social worker with a Master’s Degree in Social Work and 10+ years of experience) can provide an Eldercare Home Consultation (for a modest fee) to explore physical, familial, cognitive, and safety issues you or your loved one may be experiencing. She can also consult on the availability of community resources and government entitlements, and can advocate for you (on an hourly basis) to receive these programs, services, benefits, and supplies.

10. Do you have additional cleaning or other personal and household services available?

Yes. Our caregivers provide light housekeeping, but if you require more than dusting, occasional vacuuming, and tidying up the main living areas, then we can arrange more comprehensive cleaning services by one of our Task Assistants. Our Task Assistants can also help with personal and household services such as house and garage organization and clean-out, in-home hair care, handyman services, holiday help, and more.

Only the most qualified applicants are invited to join our team of professional care providers. Every applicant goes through a rigorous, 10-Step Screening and Evaluation. If you can meet our high standards, you will have the pride of knowing you are joining an organization with the reputation that all of its caregivers meet these rigorous standards!

We believe that caregivers do their best work when they are treated well. That philosophy has generated strong caregiver loyalty toward Euro-American. We treat our caregivers with the same compassion, interest, respect, and dignity that they provide to the people in their care.

We remember our caregivers’ birthdays and other special days. We have our Employee of the Month Recognition Program. Every year, our Caregiver Appreciation Dinner is a highlight, with caregivers and staff dancing, eating, and enjoying this time as a wonderful team.

4. What kind of benefits Euro-American Homecare provides for their employees?

Euro-American Homecare as an employer provides benefits such as tax, social security and Medicare withholding, simple IRA, unemployment Insurance, workers compensation, full staff support, steady employment, and training.

6. What types of assignments do you offer, and how often do you pay?

We offer hourly long and short shifts, overnights, 24/7 live-in positions. We pay on a weekly basis by direct deposit. Your pay will be automatically deposited in your designated account on Wednesday. The direct deposit for hours worked between Monday through Sunday, will be paid on the following Wednesday.
