What Respite Care Looks Like in Norwalk

Every Corner of Norwalk, Not Just the Center

South Norwalk was a city of its own until 1913, and the old divisions still show: East Norwalk by the beaches, Rowayton on the Five Mile River, Cranbury and West Norwalk inland, Silvermine running over the line into New Canaan and Wilton. All of them, the Norwalk side of Silvermine included, are inside the area we cover — tell us which one when you call, and that is the last time it matters.

When the Family Caregiver Is a Husband or Wife

Often the person doing the caring is not a grown child at all but a spouse in their seventies or eighties, in a house in Cranbury or East Norwalk they have shared for decades, who has not had an afternoon to themselves in months. Respite gives them that afternoon back, and a night's sleep that is not spent listening out.

Your Own Health Should Not Be the Thing That Waits

The scan you keep rescheduling, the knee you meant to have seen last spring: when you are the one doing the caring, your own health is what slips first. Respite covers those hours on a set day, so looking after someone else stops being the reason you never look after yourself.

Our only office is at 1436 Berlin Turnpike in Berlin, about fifty-five miles away by road; we have no Norwalk address and will not pretend otherwise. The caregiver travels to the house, and the matching, the scheduling and your client manager are a phone call to Berlin — the same as for every family we look after.

Getting Started Is Simple

A Clear, Guided Process from Initial Call to Caregiver Match

  1. Reach out by phone or by filling out our online form, and THREE things come back to you. A FREE foundational Plan of Care tailored to you and your loved one, along with potential caregiver(s) profile(s) near you, and a list of questions to ask home care agencies.

  2. Our goal is to create the most effective Plan of Care for your loved one. One of our Client Managers will reach out to schedule an in-home visit. This allows us to get to know you and your loved one personally, understand their needs, and assess the home for safety. We'll note any existing adaptive equipment and flag any adjustments that could better support their independence at home.

  3. Based on everything we have learned about your loved one, we will send you a couple of pre-selected caregiver profiles that we believe are a good match for your loved one's needs, preferences, hobbies, personality, etc. Once you have chosen a caregiver you feel good about, you have the option to meet them before services begin.

  4. On the first day of services, our Field Supervisor will be on-site to ensure the Plan of Care is fully understood and followed. Clients are encouraged to ask questions, and we will be there to ease the transition every step of the way. From there, our Field Supervisor will continue with monthly in-home visits to ensure quality care is maintained.

Why You Need a Plan of Care for Your Loved One?

A Plan of Care tells you exactly what level of support your loved one needs without committing to anything. We put it together because every family making this decision deserves clarity before they commit.

Tailored specifically to your loved one — their routines, their preferences, their history, their situation. Not a template. Not a generic checklist. A plan built for one person — yours.

You own the plan — always. You walk away with it regardless of what you decide next.
