Home Care in Southington, Connecticut

Southington started out as Panthorne, a settlement of Farmington, and became a town of its own in 1779. About forty-three thousand people live here today, in the center of town and in Plantsville, Milldale and Marion, and each fall the Apple Harvest Festival draws more than a hundred thousand people to the Town Green. Families anywhere in town can have hourly, overnight or 24-hour home care from us.

What Southington Families Should Know About Us

Our Free Art Class Meets at Calendar House

Calendar House, the Southington Senior Center on Pleasant Street, is one of the senior centers where we hold Creative Companionship, our free art class for older adults. Nobody needs to know how to paint, and it costs nothing. Our clients and the center's members are both welcome, and there are Polish paczki on the table. Call us to ask when the next class in Southington is.

When Your Mother Lives on Her Own

In about two thousand Southington homes, the only person living there is 65 or older, and most of them are women, according to the Census Bureau. Living alone can work well for years. When the shopping, the shower or the nights start to get harder, a few hourly visits a week, or an awake caregiver at night, can help keep it working.

Bradley Memorial, the Hospital Campus in Town

The Bradley Memorial campus of The Hospital of Central Connecticut, on Meriden Avenue, has an emergency department and a unit for same-day surgery. We have no part in the care there. Ours starts at your door: after a same-day procedure, hourly visits can cover meals, washing and the housework for the first weeks at home, and be cut back as recovery goes on.

Getting Started Is Simple

A Clear, Guided Process from Initial Call to Caregiver Match

  1. Reach out by phone or by filling out our online form, and THREE things come back to you. A FREE foundational Plan of Care tailored to you and your loved one, along with potential caregiver(s) profile(s) near you, and a list of questions to ask home care agencies.

  2. Our goal is to create the most effective Plan of Care for your loved one. One of our Client Managers will reach out to schedule an in-home visit. This allows us to get to know you and your loved one personally, understand their needs, and assess the home for safety. We'll note any existing adaptive equipment and flag any adjustments that could better support their independence at home.

  3. Based on everything we have learned about your loved one, we will send you a couple of pre-selected caregiver profiles that we believe are a good match for your loved one's needs, preferences, hobbies, personality, etc. Once you have chosen a caregiver you feel good about, you have the option to meet them before services begin.

  4. On the first day of services, our Field Supervisor will be on-site to ensure the Plan of Care is fully understood and followed. Clients are encouraged to ask questions, and we will be there to ease the transition every step of the way. From there, our Field Supervisor will continue with monthly in-home visits to ensure quality care is maintained.

Common Questions

Home Care in Southington — Common Questions

Does my mother have to be your client to join the art class at Calendar House?

No. Creative Companionship is free, and our clients and members of the center are equally welcome. No art experience is needed. To find out the date of the next class in Southington, call us at (860) 829-0208.

Can we have a live-in caregiver in Southington?

Live-in care is not one of our services in Southington; here we offer hourly, overnight and 24-hour care. If your father needs someone with him day and night, 24-hour care covers both, with awake caregivers working in turns, and nobody needs a spare bedroom for it. Call (860) 829-0208 and we will talk through which one fits.

Can we have an awake caregiver at night and hourly visits during the day?

Yes. Many families put the two together: overnight care from evening to morning, and hourly visits of three hours or more at the times of day when help is needed most. If needs grow, 24-hour care is there as well. The free Plan of Care is where we work out the right mix with you.

Can we reach you at the weekend?

Yes, on the same number, (860) 829-0208. The office in Berlin is open Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, and on Saturdays and Sundays it is reached by phone. Caregivers work around the clock, so weekend visits and shifts go ahead just as they do on weekdays.

Why You Need a Plan of Care for Your Loved One?

A Plan of Care tells you exactly what level of support your loved one needs without committing to anything. We put it together because every family making this decision deserves clarity before they commit.

Tailored specifically to your loved one — their routines, their preferences, their history, their situation. Not a template. Not a generic checklist. A plan built for one person — yours.

You own the plan — always. You walk away with it regardless of what you decide next.
