What Respite Care Looks Like in Danbury

A City of Sections, and All of Them Covered

Ask a Danbury family where they live and you may get a section before a street: Mill Plain, Beaverbrook, Great Plain, Germantown, Long Ridge, Lake Waubeeka. Every one of them is part of the city we serve. Give us the name you would give a neighbor, and we will find it on the map.

The Son Who Lives a Flight Away

Many families have one person in the house and another, a daughter in another state or a brother across the country, who has been carrying the worry by phone. Respite puts a steady caregiver in the house on set days, which lets the family work out who does what without every call being an emergency, and lets the person nearest finally take an afternoon off.

When the Caregiver Is the One in the Hospital Bed

The hardest call is when the person who holds everything together ends up in a bed on Hospital Avenue herself, and the person she looks after is at home with no one. Respite is built for that gap: someone who comes to the house for the hours you need, a few days while she recovers or a standing day every week after.

Our only office is at 1436 Berlin Turnpike in Berlin, about forty-eight miles away by road; there is no Danbury address and we will not suggest one. The caregiver comes to the house, and the matching, the scheduling and your client manager are a phone call to Berlin, as they are for every family we look after.

Getting Started Is Simple

A Clear, Guided Process from Initial Call to Caregiver Match

  1. Reach out by phone or by filling out our online form, and THREE things come back to you. A FREE foundational Plan of Care tailored to you and your loved one, along with potential caregiver(s) profile(s) near you, and a list of questions to ask home care agencies.

  2. Our goal is to create the most effective Plan of Care for your loved one. One of our Client Managers will reach out to schedule an in-home visit. This allows us to get to know you and your loved one personally, understand their needs, and assess the home for safety. We'll note any existing adaptive equipment and flag any adjustments that could better support their independence at home.

  3. Based on everything we have learned about your loved one, we will send you a couple of pre-selected caregiver profiles that we believe are a good match for your loved one's needs, preferences, hobbies, personality, etc. Once you have chosen a caregiver you feel good about, you have the option to meet them before services begin.

  4. On the first day of services, our Field Supervisor will be on-site to ensure the Plan of Care is fully understood and followed. Clients are encouraged to ask questions, and we will be there to ease the transition every step of the way. From there, our Field Supervisor will continue with monthly in-home visits to ensure quality care is maintained.

Why You Need a Plan of Care for Your Loved One?

A Plan of Care tells you exactly what level of support your loved one needs without committing to anything. We put it together because every family making this decision deserves clarity before they commit.

Tailored specifically to your loved one — their routines, their preferences, their history, their situation. Not a template. Not a generic checklist. A plan built for one person — yours.

You own the plan — always. You walk away with it regardless of what you decide next.
