What Companionship Services Look Like in Greenwich

Cos Cob, Riverside, Old Greenwich, and the Rest

Greenwich is a town of villages more than a town with one center. Cos Cob, Riverside and Old Greenwich each have a post office and ZIP code of their own, and Byram, Glenville, Pemberwick, Mianus and Banksville are names families use as readily as the town's. Every one is inside the town line, and so inside the area we cover. Give us the street and the name you use for it, and the rest is ours to work out.

A Town Center on Greenwich Avenue, for the Afternoon Nobody Planned

The Commission on Aging runs the Wallace Center at 299 Greenwich Avenue for town residents 55 and over, with classes, a café, a technology lounge and a monthly calendar of activities. For someone who has stopped going out, that calendar can sit on the table for weeks. Support in attending senior-center programs is part of companionship care, so a companion can be the person who says "shall we go and see?" and goes along on the first day.

Nearly One Resident in Four Speaks Another Language at Home

Census figures put it at about 24 percent of Greenwich residents. Conversation is the heart of companionship, and it is easiest in the language a person thinks in. We ask early what is spoken at home, and match on it as far as the caregivers available for your hours allow. If a language cannot be matched for the hours you need, you will hear that from us at the start.

Our only office is at 1436 Berlin Turnpike in Berlin, sixty-nine miles from Greenwich by road. We have no Greenwich address and will not pretend to. Matching, scheduling and your client manager are handled by phone from Berlin, and the caregiver comes to the house.

Getting Started Is Simple

A Clear, Guided Process from Initial Call to Caregiver Match

  1. Reach out by phone or by filling out our online form, and THREE things come back to you. A FREE foundational Plan of Care tailored to you and your loved one, along with potential caregiver(s) profile(s) near you, and a list of questions to ask home care agencies.

  2. Our goal is to create the most effective Plan of Care for your loved one. One of our Client Managers will reach out to schedule an in-home visit. This allows us to get to know you and your loved one personally, understand their needs, and assess the home for safety. We'll note any existing adaptive equipment and flag any adjustments that could better support their independence at home.

  3. Based on everything we have learned about your loved one, we will send you a couple of pre-selected caregiver profiles that we believe are a good match for your loved one's needs, preferences, hobbies, personality, etc. Once you have chosen a caregiver you feel good about, you have the option to meet them before services begin.

  4. On the first day of services, our Field Supervisor will be on-site to ensure the Plan of Care is fully understood and followed. Clients are encouraged to ask questions, and we will be there to ease the transition every step of the way. From there, our Field Supervisor will continue with monthly in-home visits to ensure quality care is maintained.

Why You Need a Plan of Care for Your Loved One?

A Plan of Care tells you exactly what level of support your loved one needs without committing to anything. We put it together because every family making this decision deserves clarity before they commit.

Tailored specifically to your loved one — their routines, their preferences, their history, their situation. Not a template. Not a generic checklist. A plan built for one person — yours.

You own the plan — always. You walk away with it regardless of what you decide next.
